Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort, an all-inclusive resort hotel located in Cape Zanpa, one of the most scenic spots in Okinawa, will start lighting illuminations that color the winter night sky from November 1, 2025. Focusing on the largest pool area in Okinawa Prefecture, we will develop illuminations on the hotel premises and on Zanpa Beach, and prepare various projects that can be enjoyed with the light.
Project background
Cape Zanpa, about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, is a scenic spot where the majestic scenery of the East China Sea, which is 30 to 40 meters high, stretches for about 2 km. On the other hand, rough waves hit the cliff, making it a place that has been known as a difficult place for voyage since ancient times, and this cape has been regarded as an important landmark for voyage. The Cape Zanpa Lighthouse started construction on this cape in 1973. After being lit for the first time in 1974, it was opened to the public in 2001 as a "visiting lighthouse" (a lighthouse that rises). Currently, there are only 16 lighthouses in Japan (*). If you climb the 99 steps inside the lighthouse, you can see the deep greenery of the sea and Yomitan Village below, and many visitors come from Japan and abroad in search of this dynamic landscape. 1． Illuminations that color the largest pool area in Okinawa Prefecture
During the period, floating lights will appear on the surface of the "Tengara Pool" at night after the business is closed. As the name of Tengaura, which means "Milky Way" in Okinawa's word, the flowing pool of 128 meters per lap has a floating light shining like the Milky Way, which fantastically colors the water surface.
In addition, by having customers walk along the pool side with their lantern on hand, we have prepared an experience that allows them to enjoy as a performer who produces a part of the illumination.

Gajumaru trees are planted on the small path from the pool area to Zanpa Beach. In the Okinawa region, it is said that there is a fairy called "Kijimuna", which protects the house and brings good fortune, and is worshiped and popular as a sacred tree. On this small path, you can enjoy illuminations that color Gajumaru with more than 10,000 LED lights. The simple yet warm light of the champagne gold illuminates the area.
