From October 1, 2025 (Wednesday) to March 31, 2026 (Tuesday) at Grand Mercure Wakayama Minabe Resort & Spa, an all-inclusive resort hotel overlooking the magnificent Pacific Ocean from all guest rooms (Minabe-cho, Hidaka-gun, Wakayama Prefecture / General Manager: Kazunori Tanaka) will hold a guided walking tour to enjoy the charm of Kumano Kodo, a World Heritage Site with rich nature and the relaxed cityscape away from the hustle and bustle.

This tour is an activity that does not require an additional charge included in an all-inclusive stay, and we have set up three courses that even beginners from Kii Road can participate without difficulty. There is also a familiar guide by a local guide, so even those who visit Kumano Kodo for the first time can easily participate. This tour is recommended during the autumn holiday season, where you can experience history and culture while walking leisurely, and you can heal naturally.

[Course 1] An open path between the sea and the faith

[Iwashiro Station - Arima Prince Knot Matsu - Iwashiro Prince - Senri Prince - Chisato Kannon - Hotel]

A seaside course starting from Iwashiro Station, where you can enjoy the harmony between religion and nature, such as Prince Arima and Prince Iwashiro of Kumano Kujuku, and "Kizu no Matsu". Walk while feeling the pleasant sea breeze, and your heart is healed by the superb view of the Kii Channel seen from Chisato Kannon. This course is recommended for those who want to walk slowly while enjoying the scenery.

[Course 2] Road to enjoy the peaceful scenery of satoyama and the specialty of Minabe-cho

[Hotel - Senri Oji - Nambu Pass - Kishu Umeboshikan - Sannabe Oji - Nando - Minabe Station]

This course, which passes through Minabe-cho, crosses the gentle mountain path of the southern pass, and walks with love in the peaceful satoyama scenery. On the way, there is Prince Sannabe, one of the Kujuku Prince Kumano, where you can touch the remnants of ancient religion. In addition, Kishu Umeboshikan, where you can experience the charm of the famous Kishu Minami Koume, is a nice stop-by spot where you can enjoy not only observing the manufacturing process but also tasting. This course is recommended for those who want to enjoy nature, history, and the taste of the region. From January to March of the new year, you can enjoy a stroll while being wrapped in the aromatic scent of plums drifting throughout the town.

[Course 3] A road that gets familiar with history at the entrance of Kumano Kodo and touches on the achievements of naturalists related to Tanabe City

[Tanabe Station or cockfighting shrine parking lot -Walking in Tanabe City such as the Morihei Ueshiba Memorial Hall, Kumagusu Minakata Honoring Hall -Tanabe Station or the Chicken-fighting shrine parking lot]

A course to stroll through the streets of Tanabe City, which flourished as the gateway to Kumano Kodo. "Toukei Shrine", which is registered as a World Heritage Site and is named after the chicken match at the Heike Monogatari Dannoura Battle, and the pioneer of modern Japan in the field of natural science and folklore We will visit the "Kensho Kan", which displays the achievements of Kumagusu Minakata. It is a course that satisfies intellectual curiosity, where you can experience culture and history while feeling the relaxed atmosphere of Tanabe City, a town that welcomes travelers who go to Kumano Kodo.
