Purpose and Background of Service

In Grand Mercure Ise-shima Resort & Spa, families, including elementary school students, account for nearly half of all customers, and demand for family travel is an important market. On the other hand, there was also a problem that it was difficult to convey the value of uniformity and locality and sustainability in conventional facilities for children. Therefore, in the new construction of Matoya no Mori, this was a new initiative to balance learning and staying value while utilizing local timber resources.

In addition, we will start selling the new "Family Superior Room" for family customers.

Characteristics of "Matoya no Mori" that learns while touching wood from Mie Prefecture

Original wooden toys made of natural honey wax are available

1. “Touch” the warmth of wood “forest open space”

At "Mori no Hiroba", we aimed to create a space where children can touch their hands directly and experience the warmth and texture of trees. Wood from Mie Prefecture is used for flooring and wooden toys to be installed, natural honey wax is applied, and the toys are original specifications engraved with the hotel logo.

"Ehon no Mori" and toys are lined up in a spacious space

2. Book reading space "Ehon no Mori" to learn about trees and forests

Picture books and children's books on the theme of trees and forests in Japan and overseas are also available, creating a reading environment where families can spend a relaxing time. This is a space where you can spend time feeling the warmth of wood while reading nostalgic picture books in ADULTS.

Exhibiting shanty and illustrations

3. "Learning" and "Manabi no Wall" while playing the ecology of trees and forests

With the cooperation of Mie Prefecture, we have set up a “Manabi no Wall” where you can learn how to grow Mie trees and forests, so that you can deepen your understanding of forest circulation while playing.
In addition, illustrator shanty from Ise City, Mie Prefecture and living in Shima City, will create illustrations `` Starry Sky Watching and Yakiimo Experience '' and `` Night Pool and Fireworks '' that image the actual plan of the hotel for this project. Will be exhibited on the wall.

Making fun using wood scraps and acorns

4. Experience "making" by touching wood "making workshop"

We will prepare wood scraps, acorns, driftwood, marine plastic waste, etc., and permanently establish a work experience that allows you to freely produce with woodwork bonds. Because it does not use tools, children can enjoy it with peace of mind. The finished work can be taken home, leaving the fun memories of your trip in shape.
