Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto Resort & Spa, an all-inclusive resort hotel located on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean (Kushimoto-cho, Higashimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture / General Manager: Kazunori Tanaka) sells two cherry blossom viewing accommodation plans to enjoy the charm of the region with five senses in line with the arrival of spring.

One is a plan with monolithic cherry blossom viewing lunch, where you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing around Kozagawacho, a nationally designated natural monument, about 30 minutes by car from the hotel, and a special lunch using local ingredients. The other is the "Flower Dango Plan" where you can taste cherry sweets from a long-established Japanese confectionery store that has been loved in Kushimoto in your room.

The purpose of this project is to allow you to experience the nature, food, and people's activities that have been nurtured through your journey, Kushimoto-cho, where the hotel is located, and Kozagawa-cho, which is adjacent. The rich nature of the Kushimoto and Koza River, the food culture inherited in the region, and the thoughts of the people who continue to protect it. Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto will promote the appeal of "Wakayama Kushimoto, where you want to come back again" through a stay where you can enjoy the seasons with the local community.

Plan with monolithic cherry blossom viewing lunch

Enjoy the nationally designated natural monument and the local food culture at once!
【Only from 3/1 to 4/12】 Enjoy the Spring of Koza River | Plan with monolith limited cherry-blossom viewing lunch

Point 1 The spring of the Koza River, where you can enjoy the famous cherry blossom spot, monolith.
The area around monolith, a nationally designated natural monument in Kozagawa-cho, about 30 minutes by car from the hotel, is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot where cherry blossoms along the river and magnificent rock surface harmonize.
In addition to monolith, the town is dotted with famous cherry blossoms, such as the cherry blossoms on the shores of Lake Nanakawa Dam, which has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. From late February to early April, the cherry blossoms bloom at different times, Kawazu Sakura, Kumanozakura, and Yoshino cherry blossoms bloom at different times. Among them, "Kumanozakura" (*), which was certified as a new species for the first time in about 100 years in Japan, announces the arrival of spring as early blooming cherry blossoms characterized by pale pink flowers.

Point 2 Special lunch with only hotel and full of local ingredients
In this plan, you can enjoy a limited lunch limited to Mercure Wakayama Kushimoto, which was devised only for the hotel at a restaurant in "Michinoeki Monolith Monolith" located in front of monolith, a nationally designated natural monument.
In addition to yuzu from the Koza River, fresh seasonal local vegetables and fish, we use somenma from the Koza River, which was born in an effort to solve the problem of neglected bamboo forests. It is a lunch that carefully serves the thoughts of the people who face the “food” of the Koza River along with the blessings of the region on a plate.

Dango plan from flower

A long-established Japanese confectionery that continues to be loved in Kushimoto and a reward time to enjoy spring!
【Only from 3/1 to 4/12】 Taste the spring of Kushimoto| Plan with long-established cherry confectionery and orange green tea

Points Enjoy with the long-established Japanese confectionery shop "Gihei" in Kushimoto Spring
Gihei is a long-established Japanese confectionery store founded in 1893 and continues to make fresh sweets in Kushimoto-cho.
The representative product "Usukawa Manju", which uses the motif of Hashikui-iwa Rock, is a dish that values the taste of the ingredients while modest sweetness, and has been popular with locals for many years.
In this plan, in addition to "Usukawa Manju", one box of cherry blossom viewing boxes are packed with "Sakura motif upper fresh confectionery (kneaded cut)," "Sakura mochi" and "Sakura motif amber sugar (amberkan)" will be provided at check-in. Along with "Mikan Green Tea" where you can feel the uniqueness of Wakayama, it is a unique way to spend time at a resort hotel where you can enjoy the scenery of spring in your room without going out.

  • Usukawa manju

A famous confection that was born in Gihei Kushimoto and represents Kinan. Homemade bean paste with less sweetness is wrapped in a thin skin with soft and sweet sake, carefully handful one by one and steamed. It is a simple and gentle taste bun inspired by Kushimoto's scenic spot "Hashikui-iwa Rock".

  • Cherry blossom motif (kneaded cut)

Fresh confectionery made with cherry blossoms in spring.
It is wrapped in pale cherry-colored cherry blossom bean paste and finished with gentle and elegant taste.

  • Sakuramochi

Spring sweets that are indispensable for cherry blossom viewing with a faint scent of cherry blossoms. We use fragrant cherry leaves from Japan (Shizuoka Prefecture).

  • Amber sugar (amber kan) with cherry motifs

Amber kan that reflects spring scenery shining in the light. You can enjoy a gentle sweetness and a crisp texture.

  • Mandarin green tea

A subtle citrus scent blended with the peel of Arida mandarin orange and domestic green tea enhances the gentle sweetness of Japanese sweets.
